The Project

The ‘Amici della Santissima Annunziata Onlus’ is a non-profit organization founded in April of 2012 to contribute to the realization of projects for the protection, restoration, conservation and enhancement of historical and artistic heritage housed at the Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata in Florence. Cultural heritage is essential to the development of local identity and to the spiritual and social growth of the community.

The Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata in Florence was built starting from 1250 in what would become the namesake square, and contains many memories of our civil and religious city.

Restoration of the Chapel of the Madonna del Soccorso or of Giambologna in the Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata in Florence

The Chapel of the Madonna del Soccorso or of Giambologna in the Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata is the last created chapel by Giambologna in the sixteenth century, for which he was both the architect and the client. In its interior the Chapel contains  paintings on canvas, marble or stucco sculptures, artifacts and bronze reliefs, liturgical furnishings, frescoes and inlaid floors. The work of restoration, in its entirety, has already received the go-ahead from the Special Superintendence for the Historical, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological Heritage and for the Museum of the City of Florence, from the City of Florence and from the Padri Servi dell’Ordine di Maria
